Information about this app

Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder. Every patient experiences the complaints in his or her own way. It is therefore valuable to gain insight into how much trouble the symptoms cause and how this may change over time or through medication. The Narcolepsy Monitor helps to collect information about the dynamics of the symptoms.

The Narcolepsy Monitor was developed for people who were diagnosed with narcolepsy by a physician.

How does the app work

When using the app for the first time, you will receive a short questionnaire about your narcolepsy. Take your time to fill it in properly; this only needs to be done once.

You can then start using the app. Important is that you not keep track of how often a symptom occurs, but how much burden a particular symptom is causing you. It can therefore happen that a symptom is often present, but that this actually is not causing any problems and thus scores low.

In the app you will see 5 coloured bars that represent the degree of perceived burden. To start, choose the symptoms of narcolepsy that you experience from a list. You can also add or remove other symptoms at a later stage. The burden of a symptom can be indicated by dragging the corresponding icon to the appropriate bar. The higher placed, the more perceived burden one experiences. After entering, always press ‘save’.

The bottom bar indicates that a symptom can be present, but it actually doesnt bother you at all.

If a symptom has completely disappeared, you can drag it to the trash. You can add a "new" symptom with the "plus" sign.

At the top you will find buttons that you can use to add a short note or a change in medication.

If you open the app again at a later time, you can enter any changes by dragging the relevant icons to another location. If your situation has not changed, you only have to press save.

The Narcolepsy Monitor was developed by the Kempenhaeghe Center for Sleep Medicine, with the cooperation of Eindhoven University of Technology and SEIN Sleep-Waak Center. Implementation was provided by Frontwise.
